Director Gunasekhar made this script based on the life story of the Rani Rudramadevi, Nayantara, Anushka and Priyanka Chopra are asked for the title role but Anushka was fixed, she has the experience of working in Arundhati. To act in the role of Gona Ganna Reddy, Mahesh Babu and Jr. NTR are approached, but no one is selected, eventually Allu Arjun roped for this character.
